A heated political exchange took place in Parliament on Tuesday during the discussion on Operation Sindoor. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded answers over former US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims about mediating peace between India and Pakistan.
Rahul Gandhi Questions Modi’s Political Will
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took a strong stand in the Lok Sabha. He questioned the government's strategy behind Operation Sindoor and raised doubts about its political commitment.
“If you want to utilise the Indian Armed Forces, you need 100% political will and full freedom of operation,” Gandhi said.
He compared the current situation with the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Back then, he said, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave General Sam Manekshaw complete freedom to plan the operation. “In 1971, when the Seventh Fleet was heading toward India, Indira Gandhi told General Manekshaw to take six months or even a year—whatever he needed. That’s called freedom of action. That’s what real political will looks like.”
Gandhi Dares Modi to Refute Trump’s Claims
Rahul Gandhi also challenged Prime Minister Modi to publicly reject Trump’s statements. “If he has the courage, he will say here that Donald Trump is a liar. 50% Indira Gandhi ka courage hai toh ye bol dega,” he said, directly calling on the PM to take a stand.
He quickly corrected himself by adding, “bol denge, sorry,” changing the tone slightly but keeping his message firm. Gandhi pressed further, asking, “Why is the Prime Minister silent? If Trump is lying, say it. Say it in Parliament.”
अगर मोदी जी में 50% भी इंदिरा गांधी जितना दम है, तो संसद में साफ़ कहें - डोनाल्ड ट्रंप झूठ बोल रहे हैं!

Kharge Raises Issue in Rajya Sabha
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also joined the attack, speaking in the Rajya Sabha. He asked why the Modi government had stayed silent even after Trump claimed multiple times that he had negotiated peace between India and Pakistan.
“Even after Trump admitted 29 times that he brokered the ceasefire, why is India still not ready to accept it?” Kharge asked. He added pointedly, “By the time I finish my speech, he might have said it a 30th time.”
Opposition Demands Clarity
Both Congress leaders demanded the Prime Minister come clean on whether Trump's statements were true or not. They argued that staying silent raised doubts about India's stance and undermined the credibility of the Indian government’s foreign policy.
Their fiery speeches added more tension to the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor and placed pressure on PM Modi to respond directly to Trump’s controversial statements.
