‘Main aapke saath hoon’: PM Modi Vows to Rebuild Trust and Normalcy in Manipur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur for the first time since the 2023 ethnic violence and pledged full support to restore peace, rebuild trust, and aid affected families.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur on Saturday for the first time since the 2023 ethnic violence. During his visit, he assured the people of the state that both he and the Government of India stand firmly with them in their journey toward peace and recovery.

Modi Assures Support

Addressing a large gathering in Churachandpur, Modi said, “Aur main aaj aapko waada karta hoon, main aapke saath hoon. Bharat sarkar aapke saath hai. Manipur ke logon ke saath hai.”
(I promise you, I am with you. The Government of India is with you. It is with the people of Manipur.)

He described Manipur as a land filled with hope and promise. According to Modi, the state is slowly recovering after months of unrest and violence.

Signs of Recovery

Modi shared that he had met families living in relief camps earlier in the day. He expressed optimism after speaking with them, saying, “A new dawn of hope and trust is emerging in Manipur.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that lasting peace is essential for development. He highlighted how, over the past eleven years, many long-standing conflicts in the Northeast have been resolved. “People have chosen the path of peace and prioritized development,” he said.

Dialogue for Peace

Modi revealed that the government has begun talks with various groups from both the hills and valleys. These discussions aim to create mutual understanding and lasting peace.

“I appeal to all organisations to move forward on the path of peace, fulfil your dreams, and secure the future of your children,” he urged.

Steps Toward Normalcy

The Prime Minister highlighted the Centre’s ongoing efforts to restore stability in Manipur. He announced that 7,000 new homes would be built for families who were displaced by the violence. “To bring life back on track in Manipur, the Government of India is making every possible effort,” Modi said.

Additionally, he confirmed that a special package of around ₹3,000 crore has been approved. Out of this, ₹500 crore has been set aside specifically to assist those directly affected by the unrest.

Focus on Tribal Youth

Modi also spoke about initiatives to support the aspirations of Manipur’s tribal youth.
“I am well aware of the dreams and struggles of Manipur’s tribal youth, and various measures are underway to address your concerns,” he stated.

Looking Ahead

The visit marked a key step in the government’s efforts to rebuild trust and promote peace in Manipur. Modi’s assurances and announcements are aimed at healing the state’s divisions and guiding it toward a stable and prosperous future.
