David Beckham Knighted by King Charles for Services to Football and Charity
David Beckham has received one of Britain’s highest honors — a knighthood — for his remarkable contribution to football and society.

Former England football captain David Beckham has been officially knighted for his outstanding services to football and British society. King Charles III conferred the honor on him during a ceremony held in Berkshire on Tuesday.

Beckham appeared in a smart three-piece suit designed by his wife Victoria Beckham, who joined him at the event along with his parents, Ted and Sandra Beckham.

A Celebrated Career

Beckham, who now co-owns the Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami, rose to global fame during his legendary spell with Manchester United. He made his first-team debut in 1992 at the age of 17 and quickly became one of the club’s biggest stars.

During his time at United, Beckham won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two FA Charity Shields, and the 1999 UEFA Champions League. After leaving England, he played four seasons with Real Madrid, winning the La Liga title in his final season.

Beckham Reflects on the Honor

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Beckham expressed deep pride in receiving the knighthood. “I think obviously being told I had the honour was a special moment,” he said.

He added, “I've been lucky to have won things in my career and done things, and played for my country and captained my country, but, without doubt, this is the moment that makes me very proud.”

Beckham said the award meant more because it also recognized his charity work. “For a number of reasons - not just my career, not just for the sport, but to get it for the philanthropic work I do, that's so important to me. My charity work has always been work that I don't have to do. I do it because I love doing it, I do it because I make a difference and we make change and, in all honesty, it's extra special to receive a knighthood, for not just my sport but the important work I do with children.”

Reflecting on his long career, he said, “It's nice to have six Premier League titles and obviously a few other medals along the way, but this, without doubt, will be pride of place.”

International Legacy

Beckham’s influence extended beyond club football. He made his England debut on September 1, 1996, at the age of 21, and went on to captain the national team for six years, earning 58 caps during his international career.

A Knight of the Game

Beckham’s knighthood not only honors his achievements on the pitch but also celebrates his efforts to uplift communities through philanthropy. His rise from a young Manchester United player to an international icon and now a knight reflects a journey marked by talent, dedication, and social commitment.
