Gujarat Titans (GT) outclassed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets in the 19th match of IPL 2026 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After electing to bowl first, Gujarat Titans restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 164/8 in 20 overs. Prasidh Krishna (4/28 in 4 overs) was the most successful bowler for Gujarat Titans, while Ashok Sharma also picked up two wickets. Mohammed Siraj (1/19 in 4 overs) was the most economical bowler for the team. Aiden Markram was the highest scorer for LSG.
While chasing, Gujarat Titans achieved the target with 8 balls to spare. Shubman Gill played a superb knock of 56 runs off 40 balls, while Jos Buttler scored a quick 60 off 37 balls. With this win, Gujarat Titans continued their winning streak from the previous match.
LSG Start Aggressively but Lose Momentum
LSG began their innings with attacking intent. Kagiso Rabada was hit for runs early, but he bounced back and dismissed Mitchell Marsh.
Rishabh Pant then came to the crease and tried to play aggressively. However, Siraj’s tight bowling troubled him. Pant mistimed a shot, and the ball went to mid-off, leaving LSG at 45 for 2.
Prasidh Krishna Breaks the Backbone of LSG
Prasidh soon took control of the match. He first dismissed Aiden Markram, who mistimed a shot to deep midwicket. Then he removed Ayush Badoni in a similar manner. LSG quickly slipped to 74 for 4.
Nicholas Pooran came in but struggled to find rhythm. He looked out of touch and could not play freely. Although he hit two sixes off Rashid Khan, he failed to build on that momentum.
Prasidh dismissed him soon after, as Pooran hit a simple catch to mid-off. He scored only 19 off 21 balls.
Late Efforts Fail to Lift LSG
Mukul tried to add some quick runs. He got lucky early when he escaped a run-out chance. Later, he was hit on the helmet by a fast bouncer. He showed glimpses of his hitting ability with a powerful shot behind square. However, he soon edged a slower bouncer from Prasidh and got out.
His 18 runs helped LSG cross 150. A short late cameo from Shami and Linde pushed the total to 164.
Gill Anchors the Chase with Ease
GT captain Shubman Gill led from the front during the chase. He played a composed innings and scored a half-century off just 34 balls. Gill built a crucial 84-run partnership with Jos Buttler for the second wicket. This stand made the chase simple. GT reached the target in 18.4 overs and lost only three wickets.
Gill Dominates Shami in Key Battle
One of the most exciting moments in the match was the face-off between Mohammed Shami and Gill. Shami started well. He gave away only 10 runs in his first two overs and got some movement off the pitch. It looked like a balanced contest at first.
However, Gill quickly took control. In Shami’s third over, he smashed three fours and one six. The six stood out, as Gill hit it straight over the bowler’s head with confidence.
His boundaries showed class and timing. He played a fine leg glance, a crisp cover drive, and a stylish flick over midwicket. These shots helped him reach his fifty quickly.
Buttler’s Special Milestone Knock
Jos Buttler looked in good form in the previous match, where he scored 52 off 27 balls. In this game, he continued that momentum.
He came in after Sai Sudharsan got out. Buttler quickly got going and played a key role in building GT’s innings. Early in his innings, he survived a dropped catch when Rishabh Pant missed a simple chance.
That moment proved costly for LSG.
Buttler attacked the spinners and forced LSG to bring back their fast bowlers. When Avesh Khan tried short-length deliveries, Buttler responded aggressively. He hit three consecutive fours in one over.
Soon, Buttler reached his half-century in just 29 balls. This was also his 100th fifty in T20 cricket. By then, the match was almost decided.
He celebrated the milestone with a reverse sweep over point. Even after Gill got out near the end, Buttler stayed till the finish and ensured victory.
