Recent media reports from Israel have claimed that Iran’s top negotiator and Parliamentary Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has stepped down from leading truce talks with the United States. However, this claim has been strongly rejected by an Iran-based journalist.
According to Channel 12, Ghalibaf resigned after heading Iran’s negotiation team during talks held in Islamabad. The report also suggested that interference from the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) led to his decision.
However, Iranian journalist Mohammad Ghaderi dismissed the report outright. He said, “The ridiculous news from Israel’s Channel 12 that Mohammad Ghalibaf has resigned from the Iran’s negotiating team, which was also republished by Al Arabiya, is completely false."
Trump Questions Iran’s Leadership
At the same time, US President Donald Trump added to the controversy with remarks suggesting confusion within Iran’s leadership. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “The infighting is between the “Hardliners,” who have been losing BADLY on the battlefield, and the “Moderates,” who are not very moderate at all (but gaining respect!), is CRAZY!”
His comments pointed to what he described as internal divisions within Iran.
Iran Rejects Claims of Division
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian strongly rejected Trump’s remarks and insisted that the country remains united.
“In Iran there are no “hardliners” or “moderates” We are all Iranians and revolutionaries. With ironclad unity of nation and state and obedience to the Supreme Leader, we will make the aggressor regret. One God, one nation, one leader, one path; victory for Iran, dearer than life,” the president said.
He emphasized that the nation stands together without internal divisions.
Supreme Leader Stresses Unity, Warns Against “Enemy Media”
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, also spoke about unity and external threats.
His remarks came after Western media reports claimed he was seriously wounded in recent airstrikes. Without directly addressing those claims, he highlighted the importance of national unity.
In his message, Khamenei said that unity among Iranians has weakened their enemies and strengthened internal cohesion. He also warned about attempts by “enemy media” to influence public opinion and undermine national security, urging people to remain vigilant.
