Israel carried out what it described as a “preemptive strike” against Iran early Saturday, according to Defence Minister Israel Katz. Shortly after the operation, authorities declared a nationwide state of emergency.
Israel Confirms “Preemptive Strike”
Katz said the military action was launched as a preventive measure. He referred to it as a “preemptive strike,” signalling that Israel acted to counter what it believed was an imminent threat.
Officials did not immediately provide further operational details. However, the announcement confirmed that Israeli forces had already begun military action.
Nationwide State of Emergency Declared
Following the strike, the Israeli government imposed a state of emergency across the country. Authorities said the decision was based on expectations that Iran could retaliate.
The government warned that Iran might respond using drones and ballistic missiles. As a result, security forces were placed on high alert, and emergency preparedness measures were activated.
Officials stressed that the emergency declaration is aimed at protecting civilians and strengthening defensive readiness in case of incoming attacks.
