US President Donald Trump said the United States will build its first new oil refinery in five decades. He made the announcement on the social media platform Truth Social. According to Trump, the refinery will be constructed in Brownsville and will be developed with the help of investment from Reliance Industries.

“I am proud to announce that America First Refining is opening the FIRST new U.S. Oil Refinery in 50 YEARS in Brownsville, Texas,” Trump said Tuesday in a post on Truth Social.

Energy Expansion Push Under Trump Administration

The announcement comes as the Trump administration continues to promote its energy dominance strategy. The policy focuses on boosting domestic production of oil, natural gas and coal in the United States.

The refinery project also comes at a time when global oil and gas markets are facing disruptions due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

The tensions have slowed or halted energy shipments in some regions, raising concerns about global supply.

$300 Billion Deal Claimed by Trump

Trump described the refinery project as a historic investment and said it would be the largest deal in US history.

Trump said the refinery project became possible because of his administration’s “America First Agenda.” According to him, the government simplified the approval process and reduced taxes to encourage large investments.

He said these steps have helped bring billions of dollars in business deals back to the United States.

Details of Deal Still Unclear

Although Trump described the refinery project as a $300 billion deal, it remains unclear whether the figure refers specifically to the refinery or to a broader economic agreement involving India.

So far, Reliance Industries has not issued an official statement confirming or explaining the details of the investment. Further clarification from the company is still awaited.
