South Africa outclassed Zimbabwe by 48 runs in the final of the T20I tri-series in Windhoek. After being asked to bat first, South Africa put 205/5 on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Jordan Hermann scored a blazing half-century, while Connor Esterhuizen and Dewald Brevis played useful innings. Short cameos from Rubin Hermann and Duan Jansen at the end helped South Africa cross the 200-run mark. Brad Evans (2/36 in 4 overs) remained the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe, while Newman Nyamhuri also took two wickets.

While chasing, Zimbabwe managed to score 157 runs and were all out in 18 overs. Zimbabwe's chase effectively ended during the opening stages of their innings. They slipped to 4/25 in the fourth over and then fell further to 6/57 in the ninth over. The rapid loss of wickets left them in danger of recording one of their lowest totals in T20I cricket. Bjorn Fortuin (3/24 in 4 overs), Duan Jansen (3/38 in 3 overs) and Eathan Bosch (2/22 in 3 overs) dismantled Zimbabwe's batting line-up.

Brad Evans and Kundai Matigumu eventually offered some resistance. The pair added 52 runs for the ninth wicket, but their partnership came far too late to change the outcome. Evans remained unbeaten on a career-best 56, providing one of the few positives for Zimbabwe. He also finished the series with 10 wickets, underlining his all-round contribution.

South Africa's bowling effort was another collective performance. Eathan Bosch, Duan Jansen, Bjorn Fortuin, Prenelan Subrayen and Kwena Maphaka all made important contributions with the ball. This win is a morale-boosting result for South Africa, as it gives them their first trophy of the year.

Jordan Hermann Smashes First T20I Half-Century

Jordan Hermann finally produced a major score after struggling to make an impact at the top of the order earlier in the series. He had recorded three scores below 30 before being moved down to No. 6 in the previous match. With Pretorius unavailable for the final, Hermann returned to the opening position and made the opportunity count.

Hermann immediately displayed his strength on the leg side. He struck his first boundary off Wessly Madhevere, sending a short delivery wide of mid-on. He then used the pick-up shot effectively, clearing fine leg for six against Newman Nyamhuri before finding the boundary again through the midwicket region.

The left-hander also showed improvement on the off side. He hit Brad Evans for two consecutive fours through mid-off and cover point. Hermann then returned to his preferred leg-side areas, hitting three boundaries in a row against Kundai Matigumu.

He completed his first T20I half-century from just 24 balls in the eighth over. However, he could not convert it into a bigger score. Evans changed his pace and bowled a slower delivery, which Hermann attempted to pull. He only managed to sky the ball towards long-on, where Ryan Burl completed an excellent catch.

Brad Evans Produces a Match-Winning All-Round Display

Evans played a crucial role for Zimbabwe with both bat and ball. His wicket of Dewald Brevis came during a period when Zimbabwe had managed to slow South Africa's scoring. Zimbabwe took three wickets for 38 runs, briefly putting pressure on the South African batting line-up. However, Brevis remained a major threat. He attacked anything even slightly short and was particularly strong with the pull shot.

Zimbabwe adjusted their bowling plans by going fuller and wider to prevent Brevis from pulling the ball. That approach reduced his opportunities on the leg side but also forced Zimbabwe to protect the off side more carefully. Brevis was on 32 from 22 balls when Evans bowled a delivery around the fifth-stump line. After Brevis had earlier struck Evans through mid-on, he attempted to attack the new delivery over the off side.

He failed to get enough power behind the shot, allowing Sikandar Raza to take the catch at long-off. The dismissal gave Evans his 10th wicket of the series, temporarily putting him at the top of the tournament's bowling charts. Evans then produced his best batting performance in the format. He remained unbeaten on 56 and demonstrated impressive footwork throughout his innings.

His batting approach involved creating room to attack through the off side and moving deep in the crease to target the leg side. All his boundaries came square of the wicket. His performance strengthened his case for a higher position in Zimbabwe's batting order.

Duan Jansen Takes Over as Leading Wicket-Taker

Eathan Bosch opened the bowling and removed Ben Curran for a first-ball duck. The wicket ended a short spell of two matches without a wicket for Bosch. Zimbabwe's main challenge, however, was facing the extra pace and bounce generated by Duan Jansen.

Innocent Kaia initially attacked Jansen, hitting him over midwicket for four. But the batter soon appeared uncomfortable against the short delivery and eventually fell to one from Bosch.

Jansen then used a clever change of pace to claim his first wicket. He bowled a slower, fuller delivery to Brian Bennett, who attempted a scoop after moving across his stumps. Instead, he edged the ball to Connor Esterhuizen.

Jansen struck again in his next over. Wessly Madhevere attempted a pull but only managed a toe-end, sending the ball towards deep backward square. Jansen completed his fourth wicket during the final phase of the innings. Blessing Muzarabani tried to attack him but sliced the ball towards cover, where Bjorn Fortuin completed the catch.With 11 wickets, Jansen finished the series as the leading wicket-taker.

Bjorn Fortuin Makes Zimbabwe Pay for Aggression

South Africa's stand-in captain Bjorn Fortuin also played a major role with the ball. Fortuin had already claimed a career-best 4 for 24 against Zimbabwe earlier in the month. He produced another impressive performance in the final. After South Africa's fast bowlers created early damage, Fortuin introduced himself in the eighth over with Zimbabwe struggling at 51 for 4.

He quickly added another wicket. Ryan Burl attacked a flighted delivery, missed completely and was bowled. Zimbabwe continued to play aggressively despite being well behind in the chase. Sikandar Raza was the next batter to fall while attacking Fortuin. Raza went after a flighted delivery and appeared to have struck it through extra cover. However, Jordan Hermann moved sharply to his left and held onto an excellent catch.

Newman Nyamhuri also tried to attack Fortuin but hit the ball high towards long-on. Bosch positioned himself well and completed the catch. Fortuin finished the final with another strong spell and ended the tournament with 10 wickets, level with Evans in the wicket-taking charts.

South Africa's comprehensive victory capped a dominant tri-series campaign and gave their experimental squad a confidence-boosting trophy ahead of the season's bigger challenges.
