Pakistan Airspace Almost Empty After India’s Operation Sindoor
Most airlines avoided Pakistan’s airspace after India’s Operation Sindoor, while Indian carriers cancelled dozens of flights and shut key northern airports.

Tensions increased after India launched Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). As a result, most international airlines have stopped using Pakistan’s airspace.

However, one flight still flew over the country. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft—ETH672 from Ethiopian Airlines—was traveling from Addis Ababa to Seoul, South Korea.

Flight Paths Change Quickly

Flight tracking images showed that Pakistan’s skies were nearly empty. Planes now take alternate routes through Iran, the Arabian Sea, and the UAE to avoid danger. Meanwhile, Indian airlines cancelled several flights. Authorities also shut down a few airports in north India, including Srinagar. These changes followed India’s missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan. Officials confirmed that IndiGo cancelled around 160 domestic flights. At Delhi airport, at least 20 flights did not operate, according to one official.

Airlines Issue Travel Updates

Air India posted, "In view of the prevailing situation, Air India has cancelled all its flights to and from the following stations -- Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot -- till 12 noon." The airline also said, "Two international flights en route to Amritsar are being diverted to Delhi. We regret the inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen disruption."

Other Airlines Follow Suit

SpiceJet informed passengers via X, "Due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice. Departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted." IndiGo added that it cancelled flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, and Jodhpur for the day.

Air India Express also updated travelers, "In keeping with prevailing restrictions, multiple flights on our network are impacted, including cancellation of flights to and from Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar and Hindon, till mid-day."
