Trump to Release More Tariff Letters, Warns Seven More Countries
Trump plans to release more tariff warning letters, pushing for trade deals while raising concerns about global economic fallout.

US President Donald Trump said he will release new letters on Wednesday that announce tariffs and trade measures for at least seven more countries. He also hinted that more countries could be added by noon the same day.

This update comes just a day after he shared similar letters with 14 nations, warning them to strike trade deals with the US before August 1 or face higher tariffs.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump posted, “We will be releasing a minimum of 7 Countries having to do with trade, tomorrow morning, with an additional number of Countries being released in the afternoon.”

Trump Warns Against Retaliation

In the letters shared on Monday, Trump issued a clear warning. He said that any country that retaliates with its own tariffs would face even tougher tariffs from the US.

Though these letters are not official trade agreements, they highlight Trump’s strategy of using tariff threats to push foreign governments toward favorable trade negotiations. However, this approach has raised fears among economists that such threats could slow global growth or even lead to a recession.

Tariffs to Support US Manufacturing and Tax Cuts

Trump continues to argue that tariffs are necessary to strengthen American manufacturing and to finance the tax cuts he approved last week. At the same time, he has kept the door open for negotiations, which adds uncertainty to US trade policy.

Custom Plans for Each Country

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump is playing a direct role in setting tariff rates. She said he is preparing “tailor-made trade plans for each and every country.”

This marks a shift from previous administrations. Rather than keeping trade talks behind closed doors, Trump is publishing these letters on social media, even before official government channels send them out.

No Final Deals Yet

So far, these letters reflect Trump’s proposals, not formal agreements. This shows that behind-the-scenes talks with other governments have not yet produced any final trade deals. As Trump continues to use public pressure and tariff threats, uncertainty over future global trade rules remains high.
