Modi highlighted the strong historical, geographical, and cultural links between India and Mauritius. Additionally, he described Mauritius as a close maritime neighbor, a key Indian Ocean partner, and a gateway to Africa.

Modi emphasized mutual trust and shared democratic values as the foundation of the relationship. Likewise, he reiterated the importance of collaboration in various fields.
He noted the deep people-to-people ties as a source of pride. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his confidence that the visit would strengthen cooperation.
Advancements in India-Mauritius Relations Over the Past Decade
Over the past 10 years, India and Mauritius have made significant progress through people-centric initiatives. As a result, both nations have strengthened their engagement in multiple sectors.
Modi stated that he looked forward to discussions with the Mauritian leadership. Specifically, he aimed to elevate cooperation in security, development, and regional growth under the SAGAR vision (Security and Growth for All in the Region).
Inauguration of Over 20 India-Funded Projects
During his visit, Modi will inaugurate more than 20 India-funded projects. These include initiatives focused on capacity building and infrastructure. Additionally, these projects highlight India's commitment to supporting Mauritius' development.
One major project is the Civil Services College building, constructed at a cost of approximately USD 4.75 million. This project began under an MoU signed in 2017. Notably, Modi and Prime Minister Ramgoolam will jointly inaugurate it.
Economic and Trade Cooperation Between India and Mauritius
India and Mauritius share strong ties in maritime security, development, and capacity-building. Consequently, India has supported several infrastructure projects in Mauritius, reflecting their deep partnership.
