Goa Strike First
Right from the start, FC Goa looked sharp. In the 20th minute, they took the lead. Borja Herrera and Boris Singh combined cleverly on the right during a set-piece. Then, Borja curled in a beautiful cross. Brison Fernandes rose high and nodded the ball into the far corner. Dheeraj Singh stood still, unable to stop it.
Mohun Bagan Respond Quickly
However, Mohun Bagan hit back just four minutes later. Ashique Kuruniyan sprinted past Boris Singh on the left. He sent in a low cross. FC Goa captain Odei Onaindia missed his clearance. Consequently, Suhail Bhat arrived unmarked at the far post and tapped it in. The score was now level at 1-1.
Goa Regain the Lead After Half-Time
After the break, Goa increased the pressure. In the 50th minute, Dejan Drazic made a strong run into the box. Dheeraj Singh brought him down in a one-on-one situation. Therefore, the referee awarded a clear penalty.
Next, Iker Guarrotxena stepped up. He calmly converted the spot-kick. With that goal, he reached 11 for the season and 4 in the tournament. Thus, he became the top scorer in the Kalinga Super Cup 2025.
Borja Delivers a Magical Goal
Just eight minutes later, Borja Herrera scored a sensational goal. He took a corner from the left side. The ball curled directly into the net. Dheeraj misjudged the flight, and the Olimpico goal stunned everyone. This gave FC Goa a 3-1 lead.
Goa Stay in Control
From then on, FC Goa controlled the game. They didn’t allow Mohun Bagan any clear chances. As a result, they comfortably saw out the match and sealed a memorable win. Now, they are just one step away from the title and a spot in next season’s AFC Champions League 2.
A Special Night for Coach Marquez
Finally, the match marked a big milestone for coach Manolo Marquez. It was his 66th match in charge of FC Goa. Therefore, he became the longest-serving head coach in the club’s history. He surpassed the previous record held by Sergio Lobera.
