King Charles III met India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams at St. James's Palace in London on Tuesday. This meeting happened one day after India lost to England in a five-day Test at Lord’s. He also greeted the coaches and BCCI officials. After the photo session, he spent time speaking with the players.
King Charles Talks About India-England Match
During their conversation, King Charles mentioned India’s recent loss. He called Mohammed Siraj’s dismissal “unfortunate.” On the final day, England’s Shoaib Bashir bowled Siraj, and the ball rolled back onto the stumps. At that moment, India was close to challenging England.
Shubman Gill, India’s Test captain, shared this conversation. He said, “It was amazing to meet King Charles III and he was very kind and generous to call us. We had some really good conversations.”
Gill also told the King that the defeat was hard to accept. “We told him that it was an unfortunate match for us and could have gone either ways. Hopefully, we will have better luck in both the next games,” he added.
Harmanpreet Kaur Calls King Charles Friendly
Meanwhile, Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared her experience. She said that although the team had visited England many times, this was their first meeting with King Charles.
“It was a very nice experience, we came to England so many times but this was the first time we met him. He was very friendly, he asked us how was the travel and all, it was really nice to meet him,” Harmanpreet said.
Overall, King Charles praised the teams and spoke warmly with both captains, leaving players with a memorable experience after India’s defeat at Lord’s.
