Accidents Common in Hilly Regions

Hilly districts like Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, and Reasi in Jammu division are known for frequent fatal accidents. Many people lose their lives every year due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, overloading, overspeeding, and sometimes road rage.

Efforts to Prevent Accidents

To prevent such tragedies, special squads have been deployed across these areas. Meanwhile, the transport department regularly warns vehicle owners and drivers about the strict punishments for breaking traffic rules. These include cancellation of a vehicle’s registration and suspension of the driver’s licence after serious accidents. Furthermore, if minors are caught driving, their parents could face imprisonment along with the cancellation of the vehicle’s registration, as highlighted by regional transport officials.
